Jill Berry is a passionate and committed public servant, with over 20 years of experience working for the City of New York. Jill’s career as a public servant includes years of working at the New York City Department of Homeless Services, the New York City Housing Authority, the Human Resources Administration, and the New York City Department of Social Services – all agencies that serve the most vulnerable New Yorkers. Jill was recently appointed by Mayor Adams’ administration to serve as First Deputy Commissioner at the NYC Department of Social Services. As such, Jill is the second highest ranking official in an agency with 16,000 employees, bringing needed safety net services to over 3.5 million New Yorkers. The NYC Department of Social Services is the oversight agency for the Human Resources Administration and the Department of Homeless Services, as both agencies were consolidated in 2016. In this role, Jill uses the entirety of her experience to elevate the quality of the services being provided to New York City’s residents and to those who come to New York City for support.
