About the Position

Title: Membership Manager
Location: Remote, with required weekly in-person meetings and member programs in New York City
Employment: Full-time, exempt
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000
Reports to: Director of Community and Operations

The Membership Manager will own and grow NYCETC’s membership program, ensuring our community continues to thrive and expand. This position blends marketing and communications with member relations and systems management: developing strategies to attract and retain members, producing communications that highlight value, and ensuring the systems that support the membership lifecycle run smoothly and efficiently.

As part of a small, high-performing, and fast-paced team, the Membership Manager will work closely with the Director of Community and Operations and the CEO. The ideal candidate is someone who is as comfortable crafting compelling communications as they are building streamlined processes, and who enjoys both engaging with people and designing the behind-the-scenes systems that create a strong member experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow membership and strengthen retention, ensuring members see clear and consistent value.
  • Own the membership lifecycle: onboarding, engagement, renewals, and support.
  • Oversee invoicing and payments: build and manage automation processes to ensure timely, accurate, and streamlined billing.
  • Maintain and improve CRM and member data systems; build reports and dashboards for leadership.
  • Write and produce member newsletters, highlighting funding, professional development, job opportunities, training programs, and resources for the workforce community.
  • Coordinate member communications (welcome sequences, reminders, updates) with a clear and accessible voice.
  • Support member convenings and events to deepen engagement and foster community.
  • Track and evaluate membership metrics (growth, renewal rates, engagement levels) and use data to inform strategy.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for member inquiries, ensuring timely and supportive responses.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 4 years of experience in marketing, membership, or subscriber-based models, with a track record of driving engagement, retention, and growth.
  • Strong relationship-building skills; enjoys supporting and engaging with people.
  • Experience managing people or leading cross-functional projects; ability to set priorities and guide others.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workforce development, economic justice, worker rights, and accessibility.
  • Comfort with CRM, invoicing, and automation tools (examples: Stripe, Asana, Mailchimp, Salesforce, Zapier).
  • Strong writing and digital communication skills, with experience producing newsletters or subscriber-facing content.
  • A systems thinker who is energized by building and refining processes utilizing artificial intelligence.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a track record of managing multiple projects.

Salary & Benefits

This position is employed through the Fund for the City of New York (FCNY), which serves as NYCETC’s fiscal sponsor. FCNY provides comprehensive administrative and operational support, including financial management and reporting, audit coordination, payroll and benefits administration, insurance, and compliance oversight.
