Free CDL Training

Manhattan EOC is offering free, short-term training to help you prepare for and earn your NYS CDL permit. The program’s flyer provides a summary and full eligibility requirements, and interested applicants may apply on MEOC’s website no later than May 15th.


Culinary & Life Skills Training for Young Adults

Drive Change’s Fellowship program is a 4 month training program that prepares young people touched by the criminal legal system for employment opportunities in the culinary industry. Fellows gain valuable technical culinary skills and important life skills training. Spread the word with the program flyer, and apply no later than May 24th.


Arts & Entertainment Administrative Fellowship

Roundabout Theatre Company provides hands-on learning opportunities for aspiring arts professionals interested in theatre administration careers through full-time year long Fellowships. We are proud to launch a new Administrative Fellowship program as an expansion of TWDP (Theatrical Workforce Development Program), which is a career development program that focuses on increasing access to careers in the arts and entertainment industry for New Yorkers. Fellows will participate in and contribute to an entire artistic season while sharing in the daily organizational operations. Learn more with an upcoming info session and apply online here. Vets in Tech

Per Scholas Vets in Tech is working to make careers in technology more accessible to veteran service members and military spouses who are interested in tech. Per Scholas New York is approved for learners to use Post-911 GI Bill benefits for in-person Cyber and IT Support Bronx courses. Per Scholas New York is also DOD SkillsBridge approved, which means that transitioning service members can enroll in PS programs and continue to receive military compensation the last 180 days of their service. Per Scholas has developed a customized learner support for our military community.

Fellowship for rising 11th and 12th Grade Students

First Tech Fund is recruiting rising 11th and 12th graders for their hybrid high school fellowship program! Students can expect to gain free personalized mentorship, technology, college prep, professional development, and more! They are actively looking to connect with guidance counselors, educators and prospective students across NYC, especially underserved communities in Harlem and Manhattan. Applications are due on May 11th at 7pm.

Tech Training in All Five Boroughs

Attend an upcoming information session in the Bronx!

Per Scholas New York offers tuition free hands-on technology training to learners at locations around all five boroughs. The first step to the admissions process is to fill out the Per Scholas-Eligibility Form . Once that is completed the applicant will be able to schedule an “Admissions Overview” zoom live webinar to learn more the eligibility requirements and the different training tracks offered: 

  • IT Support
  • Cyber Security
  • AWS re/start
  • Software Engineering

You can find our campuses in the South Bronx and Central Brooklyn, and our Satellite classrooms in partnership with Commonpoint Queens, Elmhurst and Jamaica, Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, East New York, JCC of Staten Island, Staten Island and Stanley Isaacs Neighborhood Center, Upper Manhattan. Some of our classes are offered remotely.

Career Services for Veterans

Jericho Project’s Veteran Employment Program provides individualized employment and training services to Veterans, their spouses, and adult children, most of whom have been seeking employment for extended periods. Our services include, but are not limited to Career Counseling, Resume Development, Training Exploration, Job Coaching, and Job Placement Assistance. With our consistent engagement throughout the career services process, our clients can both set and achieve their employment goals. Reach out or make a referral today!


Project Renewal

Project Renewal is actively recruiting for the following programs:

Employment Training Program: 10 days of soft skills training including resume and interview preparation as well as digital literacy
Human Services Training: 10 days training designed for individuals with an interest in developing the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to secure employment in the Human Services industry working with various populations.
Next Step Internship Training Program: Paid internship training for careers in homeless services. 8-week classroom-based and on the job training to prepare for opportunities as Residential Aide, Front Desk, House Manager and/or Maintenance Worker.
Culinary Arts Training Program: The Culinary Arts Training Program (CATP) is a 12-week intensive training program designed for individuals who express an interest in developing the skills and knowledge needed to work in a kitchen and secure employment in the food service industry.
Assisted Competitive Employment Program: individualized job placement and support program for adults with mental health diagnosis.

The HOPE Program

The HOPE Program is actively recruiting for HOPEworks, CoolRoofs, Green & Clean HVAC, and Intervine programs. The HOPE Program allows job seekers to gain industry certifications, hands-on experience, and placement into full-time employment while making NYC more sustainable.


Isaacs Center

The Isaacs Center’s Education and Workforce team provides tuition-free training programs, job placement services, and career and personal development to help individuals achieve their goals. They are currently accepting applications for GED classes, training and certification attainment in high-demand fields such as healthcare, technology, and culinary arts, as well as personal development courses. JOBMAP: A Project of Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island

Did you know there are millions of dollars worth of free career training classes now available online and self-paced? Free career certification training for top companies including Google, Microsoft, CISCO, Amazon along with many more free training classes sponsored by CUNY and SUNY. Not sure about which certification training is right for you? Before you pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars for career skills class, first consider enrolling in a free training and learn at your own pace. Free online classes range from employer high demand computer software programs leading to certification to job entry level office skills. Find free training in our easy to use guide.


Jericho Project

Jericho Project’s KEYA program is designed to support the career and educational goals of young adults between the ages of 18-25. With the goal of providing at-risk young adults a sense of agency over their lives, the KEYA program establishes a baseline to prepare individuals for the workforce. Through a combination of efforts such as resume building, interview prep, employment placement, financial assistance, career counseling and job retention assistance the KEYA program will help young adults break the cycle of poverty. OkaySo

OkaySo, a national non-profit, provides support for young people for dealing with identity, relationship, sexual health, and stress. Via their free mobile app, accessible whenever and wherever young people need it, OkaySo’s vetted experts provide compassionate and medically accurate support, information, and local referrals as necessary. Learn more about the free app for young people here. Workforce Development Department at LaGuardia Community College

LaGuardia Community College’s Workforce Development Department is announcing its upcoming training opportunities. The programs listed below include job placement assistance with employer partners and are either free or else we have full or partial tuition scholarships available for eligible applicants.   • Mental Health Peer Specialist: this training program provides the knowledge, skills, and emotional literacy needed to become employed in the mental health peer support field; including internship.
  • Medical Billing: In this part-time training you will learn the skills needed to obtain employment in the billing and revenue cycle departments of hospitals or other medical offices.
  • Emergency Medical Technician: prepares individuals to become an NYS-certified EMT
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant: prepares individuals to become nationally certified in EKG, Phlebotomy, and Clinical Medical Assisting and to work as a certified clinical medical assistant; includes an internship.
  • Community Health Worker for English Language Learners: prepares intermediate to advanced English language learners to both improve their English and train to be community health workers; includes an internship.
  • Electrical 1: prepares individuals to begin or advance a career in the electrical field and to achieve the NCCER Core and Electrical 1 national, industry-recognized certifications, in addition to OSHA30 and SST.
  • Plumbing 1: prepares individuals to begin or advance a career in the plumbing field and to achieve the NCCER Core and Plumbing 1 national, industry-recognized certifications, in addition to OSHA30 and SST.
  • Data Analytics and Data Science: prepares individuals with the skills to collect, analyze, and present data, and to advance into analytics positions in a variety of industries, from healthcare to finance and marketing.

Building Skills NY (BSNY)

BSNY provides ongoing virtual recruitment for full-time entry-level construction jobs throughout NYC. Candidates that meet BSNY minimum requirements are invited to complete an application online to begin the process and receive an invitation to an upcoming virtual recruitment event. BSNY holds virtual events every Wednesday at 6:30 AM via Zoom. More info for job seekers can be found on BSNY’s website.


Kingsborough Community College

Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Kingsborough Community College, CUNY offers a variety of college and career training programs for all levels- from new job-seekers to incumbent workers. Below is a list of some of our current offerings.

  • CompTIA A+ Computer Technician Program is a free program that prepares students for the CompTIA A+ certification exam, and an entry-level position in IT such as Help Desk Technician and Computer Support Specialist. 
  • CUNY Fatherhood Academy – CFA is a free, comprehensive program designed to promote responsible parenting and economic stability for unemployed and underemployed fathers (current or expecting) 18-30 years old, through education, employment, and personal development. 
  • Marine Technology Apprentice Program– MTAP is a free pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship program for people interested in maritime trades.

  • College for Kids is back! CFK offers a variety of in-person academic and recreational courses for children ages 5-13 on Kingsborough’s beautiful and secure campus in Brooklyn. Full-day and half-day options are available! All materials are included! The program is designed to provide opportunities for children to enjoy the satisfaction of accomplishment through personal achievement and mastering skills while being encouraged to embrace a healthy lifestyle through activities and sports.

Upwardly Global – Immigrant and Refugee Professionals Job Coaching & Skilling Program

Upwardly Global works with immigrant and refugee New Yorkers who are looking to return to their professional career fields. Through a Job Coaching & Skilling Program, job seekers gain access to customized career advising, digital training on how to navigate the U.S. job search, re- and up-skilling opportunities, and professional network building through 50+ employer partners. Each year, they place over 1,000 jobseekers back into career-track positions! Currently, all services are provided virtually. More Info.

Brooklyn Workforce Innovations offers free training programs in Film and TV Production, Commercial Driving, Woodworking, Low-Voltage Cabling, and more. View the upcoming offered training sessions through their calendar.


NPower

NPower provides tuition-free technology training, in-demand IT certifications, access to corporate mentors/networks, paid internships/apprenticeships, and career placement into the tech world for young adults ages 18-26. Nontraditional Employment for Women

Nontraditional Employment for Women hosts both in-person and online information sessions, and you can register for an info session here. Requirements include: eligible to work in the US; HS Diploma or HSE; interest in hands-on training to join a career path in the construction field.
