Marina Fang is NYCETC’s membership manager, building and coordinating relationships and communications with NYCETC’s member organizations, including the weekly member newsletter. She brings over a decade of experience as a journalist, writer, editor, and communications leader, telling and shaping stories about politics, culture, and their intersection.
For 10 years, she was a reporter and editor at HuffPost, building a long track record of covering breaking news, national politics, and arts and culture. She led coverage of major news events; landed high-profile interviews; coordinated editorial projects and edited freelance stories; and managed and mentored early-career journalists. She has also taught culture reporting and criticism at CUNY’s Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, and managed editorial and communications strategy at the Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture. She frequently mentors students and early-career writers and teaches writing workshops, including as a volunteer for two New York-based nonprofits: Girls Write Now and Press Pass NYC.
She has been a visiting journalist at the University of Missouri’s Reynolds Journalism Institute, and a fellow at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Critics Institute and the Poynter Institute’s Power of Diverse Voices writing program.
Marina lives in Brooklyn, after growing up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and graduating with honors from the University of Chicago, where she studied public policy and began her career at the college newspaper, the Chicago Maroon.
